چکیده

i p m t t t a f o r m r t ntracardiac pacemaker implantation was first described a alf century ago; the same authors first reported on transelephonic monitoring (TTM) of such devices a dozen years ater (1,2). Follow-up of the pacemaker patient was recogized as critical, particularly in view of the uncertain eliability associated with leads and generators. Tracking evice longevity and function have remained an important roblem (3,4), compounded by the development of more idespread indications for pacemakers (5), increasingly omplex devices, and mounting advisories that attest to an ver-present threat of premature device failure (6,7). Ironcally, the population at risk of device malfunction has xpanded due to medical and technological advances resultng in greater patient and pacemaker longevity. Device ollow-up technology has also evolved, inevitably raising the uestion “how are pacemaker patients and their devices best onitored?”

Remote monitoring and follow-up of cardiovascular implantable electronic devices in the Netherlands

Remote monitoring of cardiac implanted electronic devices (CIED: pacemaker, cardiac resynchronisation therapy device and implantable cardioverter defibrillator) has been developed for technical control and follow-up using transtelephonic data transmission. In addition, automatic or patient-triggered alerts are sent to the cardiologist or allied professional who can respond if necessary with var...

Remote Monitoring of Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices

Pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronization devices use advanced diagnostic functions to continuously monitor the patient and the device itself. Follow-up is necessary after implantation to provide individualized treatment and to detect malfunctions. Routine office visits, however, do not provide access to these data on a timely basis. Transtelephonic pace...

Patient perspective on remote monitoring of cardiovascular implantable electronic devices: rationale and design of the REMOTE-CIED study

BACKGROUND Remote patient monitoring is a safe and effective alternative for the in-clinic follow-up of patients with cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIEDs). However, evidence on the patient perspective on remote monitoring is scarce and inconsistent. OBJECTIVES The primary objective of the REMOTE-CIED study is to evaluate the influence of remote patient monitoring versus in-cl...

Remote Monitoring of Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator Therapy

With increasing awareness of the indications of implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) therapy, the number of patients with ICDs has been growing rapidly. Patient with an ICD require high-quality care and intense follow-up to ensure safe and effective device performance. Given the expanding use and the complexity of these devices, there has been an urgent need to improve the safety and co...

Clinical benefits of remote versus transtelephonic monitoring of implanted pacemakers.

OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to evaluate remote pacemaker interrogation for the earlier diagnosis of clinically actionable events compared with traditional transtelephonic monitoring and routine in-person evaluation. BACKGROUND Pacemaker patient follow-up procedures have evolved from evaluating devices with little programmability and diagnostic information solely in person to tran...
